I have more than ten years of experience as a clinical psychologist working in the public hospital and community mental systems, and in a private practice as a sole practitioner, and in a group practice of clinical psychologists. An area of expertise and interest is my health-related experience which provides psychological services to a diverse group of adult patients and carers with life threatening diseases. I offer a range of evidence based psychological therapies, such as humanistic therapy, cognitive -behavioural therapy, mindfulness, and self compassion, and trauma-based therapies, including EMDR. My experience is from the perspective of a mature aged woman coming to clinical psychology after a career as a hospital scientist and a scientist working in the pharmaceutical industry. Life events offered the possibility of a career change and I took up the challenge. Paul de Souza has been a practicing medical oncologist for 25 years, having obtained his Fellowship (FRACP) in 1992. He trained in medical oncology at St George and Prince of Wales Hospitals, and was Research Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia (1994-1997) before being appointed as a staff specialist in Medical Oncology at Wollongong and St George Hospitals (1997-2010). In 2011, he was appointed as the Foundation Professor of Medical Oncology at Western Sydney University and a medical oncologist at Liverpool Hospital.
