About Queensland Murray-Darling Committee

QMDC has established offices in Toowoomba, Roma and Goondiwindi and staff with key skills in the natural resource management and environmental arenas including technical, engagement, training, education, communication and policy. We are especially proud of our strong links with Landcare in Queensland and have supported the region's network of Landcare coordinators and groups for almost 20 years now. We believe a vibrant network of Landcare coordinators and groups is a critical component in the successful delivery of a range of projects and programs that boost sustainability in the Queensland Murray-Darling Basin. This voluntary participation network, based on the Landcare ethic, provides an ongoing opportunity for the widespread adoption of environmental best practice and the uptake of new innovations in sustainable farming practices. Landcare groups and their staff continue to provide the capacity to deliver on-ground outcomes both effectively and professionally, translating plans intRead more

This voluntary participation network, based on the Landcare ethic, provides an ongoing opportunity for the widespread adoption of environmental best practice and the uptake of new innovations in sustainable farming practices. Landcare groups and their staff continue to provide the capacity to deliver on-ground outcomes both effectively and professionally, translating plans into outcomes. Technical and extension staff from QMDC and Landcare coordinators in Stanthorpe, Inglewood, Roma, Mitchell, Miles, Tara, Goondiwindi, Millmerran and St George work to support stakeholder groups across the region, including sub-catchment groups and other special interest landholder groups including weed incentive, land management, young farmer groups and producer associations. In 2004, after significant consultation with the community, QMDC developed its Regional NRM Plan. The Land and Soils, Riverine, Floodplains and Wetlands, and Vegetation and Biodiversity sections of this Plan were revised in 2006 and the Weeds and Pests section, and the Aboriginal and Cultural Heritage component, were also reviewed, in 2008-09. The Regional NRM Plan sets out the priorities, targets and milestones for NRM in the region, and is available to community members online, or upon request from the Toowoomba office. The full NRM Plan, and the most up-to-date target review report, are available online, at our publications section, or on ...Read More
