Northstar Chemical Corporation was founded by my late husband, Mark Murray, in 1993 as a chemical supplier for the metal processing industry. By selling cleaners, phosphates, post-treatments and other plating chemicals, Northstar Chemical Corporation established a customer base over of the years of several metal finishing facilities in Detroit and... the Great Lakes region. Many of Northstar's current customers have been around since the company's inception. Our customers appreciate that because we are a small business we offer unmatched customer service from attention to detail to immediate response times. In February 2013 Mark was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and given 12-15 months to live. With his blessing, and because his mental acuity was limited, I took over running all aspects of his business. After a long, very hard battle, Mark died in February 2014. Losing my husband and the father of our children was devastating enough. The thought of losing the company he established and worked so hard for was more than I could bear. After Mark's death, I transferred ownership of the business to myself and continue Mark's tradition of striving to be a customer-service driven leader in the metal processing and finishing industries. Northstar Chemical Corporation is now certified as a women's business enterprise through the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and a Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) as part of the SBA's Federal Contracting Program.
