Founded in 1953, MFC's first products were sold to the growing Agricultural-Implement manufacturing sector. In the 1960's, MFC expanded into the automotive sector, supplying valve spring retainers to American Motors Corporation. Growing into a Tier 1 and 2 automotive supplier, MFC began to look to apply its unique cold forging technology to new app... lications. The year 1985 brought new changes to MFC as the company became the sole producer of cold-forged diesel engine valve bridges to Cummins Engine Company (a relationship that continues to this day). In 1989, MFC reached a new milestone, developing the first cold-forged planetary carrier for Chrysler Corporation. Today, planetary carriers are one of MFC's largest product lines, with annual volumes of ~4-5 million pieces supplied to Chrysler, Ford, and GM. In the early 1990's, the company acquired Rod & Bar Processing in Toledo, Ohio. With cold forging operations existing in the neighboring suburb of Maumee, Ohio; the decision was made to consolidate both facilities under one roof. That change took place in 1997 with the opening of a new 100,000 sq. ft. plant on the out-skirts of the City of Maumee. This location is still the home of MFC's cold-forging operations. By 2003, the company began to secure its place as an innovative cold-forming company with the creation of MFC Netform, a wholly-owned subsidiary located in Metro Detroit. MFC Netform's focus is cold formed, machined powertrain componenets. Currently the company flowforms shells and drums for several Automotive and Non-Automotive applications, as well as providing the secondary machining of these components.
