Market Connections Group today is a combination of R/R International Marketing Services that was founded by Roberta Fleischer in 1984 and Market Connections Group founded by David Hollister in 2000. The companies have shared office space for three years; R/R International serving as MCG's Southern California broker. Starting January 2006, the opera... tions have been brought together operationally as one entity. MCG currently manages the brands of a few companies on a national basis and several additional companies on a Southern California regional basis. Each client company has a brand manager that is their primary contact with MCG. The brand manager works with the company to develop the sales tools, promotional programs, pricing, and sales plan for the brand. They also assist the company in areas such as marketing, package design, public relations, logistics, general industry knowledge and virtually every aspect of bringing the product through the process of launch and expansion. Through this guidance, the brand manager seeks to prepare the company for the challenges of building a brand by being very candid about what needs to happen, how the retailers and distributors work, and what financial and other resources will be required for the next stages of development. The brand manager communicates the sales plan and product information to territory managers who are responsible for achieving the sales/ distribution objectives set by the brand manager. Essentially, MCG at its very basic level becomes a client company's outsourced sales and marketing team. With considerable effort, MCG has developed a national network of regional broker partners primarily comprised of small to medium sized independent brokerage companies whose principals have significant knowledge and experience in the specialty and natural food business.
