Welcome to the Hebron Historical Society. We are an all volunteer group trying our best to make a difference. We receive no town funding so we rely on our annual yard sale, selling lunch at the yearly town meeting, membership dues, and donations. We are proudly celebrating our 50th anniversary this August. It was on August 14, 1971 that the first meeting of the Hebron Historical Society took place. We are located in the area of western Maine known as "Oxford Hills". The towns of Harrison, Hebron, Norway, Otisfield, Oxford, Paris,Waterford and West Paris comprise this area. The Hebron Historical Society was incorporated in 1993 for the purposes of: (a) to preserve, for the benefit of the general public, the history of the Town of Hebron, the Oxford Hills area and the State of Maine (b) to provide to the general public a resource of historical data, documents and artifacts for the purposes of study, broad public education and enjoyment (c) to provide for lectures, exhibits, printed or visual materials, social events and other activities associated therewith. In October 2008, the Internal Revenue Service determined that the Hebron Historical Society is exempt from Federal income tax under section 501 (C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Society is qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under section 2055, 2106 or 2533 of the Code. Any donations to the Society are tax deductible for the giver.
