Carversville Farm Foundation

Carversville Farm Foundation is focused on growing food for donation to soup kitchens and food pantries while regenerating our soil and watershed. Last season, our first full season, we donated 25,000 lbs. of produce from 2.5 acres of beds. This year we plan to double production on 4 acres. This past fall we planted close to 0.5 acre of garlic and... 5 acres of cover crops on the land dedicated to vegetable production. We are currently building a multi-species grazing operation that will include a state-of-the art cow and goat dairy to support an onsite creamery. We are actively engaged in the process of designing a Keyline, flood-irrigated landscape as we plan for a system that integrates grazing and crop production into a balanced agroecosystem of pasture, forest, ponds, and savannah. We currently manage 294 acres of land, with 140 acres planted to cover crops, 5 acres of vegetables, 350 pastured laying hens, and a small number of dairy goats. Our vegetable production system utilizes no plastic mulch, and a combination of raised beds and no-till pasture cropping. Our Mission: Carversville Farm Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, produces free organic food for populations who lack access to a balanced diet; trains at-risk youth through farm, culinary, and other apprenticeships; and nurtures organic farms through cooperative purchasing and other programs, as well as providing education and information exchange.
