INSTRUCTORKaren Lynn has been teaching for more than 32 years and has been dancing since the age of 3 1/2 years old.She has overcome the effects of Cerebral Palsy and the need to wear a brace on one leg in her early years to become an able dancer and a proficient teacher. She has taught exercise classes at various clubs and organizations throughout the Southern California area, including convalescent homes and senior centers.ENTHUSIASMKaren Lynn is enthusiastic, as evidenced by her continual good-natured coaching."You can do it, just a little further, bend, streeeetch!"she yells. She frequently adds, "If I can do it, you can do it."As a cerebral palsy victim herself, doing some of the exercises is a proud achievement for her as for some of her class members.COMPLETE BODY EXERCISEKaren Lynn has designed her class to utilize all parts of the body and all of the muscles groups during the warm up, sitting, standing, floor and cool down exercise stage.Though nothing is done by force, Lynn encourages her students to execute body motions slowly and quite accurate, straightening limbs completely when warranted by a particular exercise. She is an expert on using body parts that just want to resist. It was through dancing that she overcame many of the physical limitations she has known for many of her 53 years. She remembers struggling through years of dancing lessons with a brace on one leg.In spite of her disability, she earned an AA degree in that field.

Karen Lynn from Whispers Of Hope is one such person with a story to tell. More than ten years ago, she began Whispers Of Hope to help inspire those with similar limitations as she has.

From her site: Karen Lynn is a native Californian. At five months old, Karen was paralyzed due to a DPT shot. This shot put her in a coma, leaving her severely disabled, but miraculously she made an almost complete recovery. Leaving her with cerebral palsy, left-side hemiplegia, and dyslexia, she went forth despite all odds. Karen made sufficient progress and has left a mark on this world.

Karen not only learned to dance, but she soared. She was the first physically challenged person to search out and win the first civil rights case in California. She obtained an Associate of Arts degree in English, and won second prize in the Kaleidoscope Literary Art Magazine international prose fiction art awards of 1983. She became a dance teacher and mentor for special needs individuals.

Just as she soared in her desires, so she seeks to inspire others to soar in theirs.
