Terry Hartwick, president of the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, said Tuesday that his organization was working to get the fair to North Little Rock.

"The biggest thing is the financing," Hartwick said.
    ...
Hartwick pointed out some of the problems with the fair's current location.

"It is landlocked," he said. "And it's not where people want to come to. The streets are narrow and not everyone can get to it."

Hartwick said an RV group looked at coming to the Little Rock-area for an event where 5,000 motorcoaches would have been in town, but passed because the RVs were too big for the roads along the state fair grounds.

The fair was located in North Little Rock in the Sherman Park neighborhood in the 1930s before a fire destroyed the facility. The fair has also been in Pine Bluff and Hot Springs before eventually settling in Little Rock.

"We've been working on this for a long time," Hartwick said.
